In 1998, during the Dutch commemorationperiod of May 4th and 5th, I made an installation in a shopwindow in Staalstraat, in the former Jewish quarter of Amsterdam. Research proved that in 1942 all inhabitants were rounded up and deported to Auschwitz. As retrospective of all earlier work in this place, I created a new site-specific context about remembering and commemoration. I decorated the shopwindow with books about remembering the war and multiples that I made about the same subject and pieces of the older installations.
